Privacy Policy
Last updated 14 August 2026
This Privacy Policy (the "Policy") applies to the ChoreWhiz application, accessed through a web browser on a
computer or mobile device, together with any related services operated by ChoreWhiz (collectively, the
"Application"). ChoreWhiz (ABN 35 715 352 541) is referred to in this Policy as the "Service Provider".
This Policy explains what personal information the Service Provider collects, how that information is used and
disclosed, and the choices available to you. The Service Provider handles personal information in a manner
consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
1. Information the Service Provider collects
- Account and profile details. Your email address, authentication credentials, an optional display name, and the profile details of each child, which are entered and managed solely by the account holder. Credentials and any parental PIN are stored using industry standard encryption.
- Service and activity data. The content created within your account, your preference settings, and any correspondence with the Service Provider.
- Diagnostic information, collected automatically. Limited system fault data, such as the operating system and browser in use and the technical detail of an error, collected strictly for maintenance and troubleshooting. PII Identifiers are removed in log files.
- Information the Service Provider does not collect. Payment card details, session recordings, screen captures, analytical usage metrics, and information obtained directly from a child.
2. How information is used
The Service Provider uses the information it collects to:
- provide, maintain, and improve the Application;
- communicate with you, including account notifications and an optional weekly progress digest;
- monitor, diagnose, and resolve technical issues;
- respond to your enquiries; and
- comply with a legal obligation.
The Service Provider does not use personal information for advertising, and does not send marketing communications without your consent. Where a communication is optional, such as the weekly progress digest, you may stop receiving it at any time using the unsubscribe link it contains or by contacting the Service Provider.
3. Cookies, local storage, and tracking technologies
The Application does not use advertising or tracking cookies. Your browser stores session information locally so that you remain signed in between visits. That information is necessary for the Application to function and cannot be disabled.
The Service Provider reserves the right to introduce analytics or other non-essential tracking technologies in future. Any such change will be reflected in an updated Policy in accordance with clause 9.
4. Disclosure of information
The Application is operated using third-party service providers, some of which are located outside Australia. Where personal information is stored or processed overseas, data protection laws may differ from those in Australia. Those providers are contractually required to protect personal information and may use it only to provide services to the Service Provider, and the Service Provider takes reasonable steps to satisfy itself that they handle it in a manner consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.
The Service Provider does not sell personal information and does not disclose it for another party's own marketing purposes. It may otherwise disclose personal information:
- where required or authorised by law, including in response to a subpoena, court order, or lawful request from a government authority;
- where it reasonably believes disclosure is necessary to protect its rights, or the safety of you or others; and
- with your consent.
5. Data retention
The Service Provider retains personal information for as long as the account to which it relates remains active, and for as long afterwards as is required to comply with a legal obligation.
6. Your rights
You may access, correct, or delete the information held about your family at any time from within the Application. If you would like a copy of that information, or are unable to make a change yourself, contact the Service Provider via the contact form.
Where you delete your account, the information held about your family is deleted from the Service Provider's live systems immediately. Copies may persist briefly in routine backups and system logs before being removed in the ordinary course of operating the Application; those copies are not accessible through the Application and are not used for any other purpose. Deletion is subject to any obligation to retain particular information under applicable law.
If you wish to make a complaint about the handling of personal information, contact the Service Provider in the first instance. If you are not satisfied with the response, you may refer the matter to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
7. Security
The Service Provider takes reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, and loss, and from unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure. Those steps follow industry standard practice for data protection, including encryption and access controls appropriate to the sensitivity of the information held. If a data breach occurs that is likely to result in serious harm, the Service Provider will notify the affected individuals and, where applicable, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
8. Children
The Application is used by a parent or guardian on behalf of their family. Children do not hold accounts and do not sign in independently; a child's activity within the account holder's session forms part of the account holder's record. The Service Provider does not knowingly collect personal information from a child other than through an account holder. If you believe that it has, contact the Service Provider via the contact form so that the information can be removed.
9. Changes to this Policy
The Service Provider may update this Policy from time to time. The date shown at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision, and material changes will be notified within the Application. Where a change requires your consent under applicable law, that consent will be sought before the change takes effect. Previous versions of this Policy are retained and are available on request via the contact form.
10. Contact
